About the Conference
The 2023 Asia-Pacific Biopharma IP Summit was hosted by Zhiwen Media and Zhichan Huicui, with guidance and support from the Beijing Pragmatic IP Development Center, the Yangtze River Delta IP Development Alliance, the Shanghai Pudong New Area IP Association, the Shanghai Minhang District IP Association, the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Industry Association and CMBA-T. It took place on 15–16 June 2023 at the Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao.
Under the theme "New Policy Environment · New IP Standards · New Opportunities for Cooperation", the summit brought together more than 300 IP leaders from top-tier and innovative pharmaceutical companies, generics manufacturers, biotech firms, the judiciary, academia and law firms.
Across two days the programme moved from institutional design to enforcement practice: day one covered drug protection policy, international arbitration and litigation, Japan's patent term extension, the European unitary patent, invalidation review, patent offence-and-defence, centralised procurement listing, and supplementary experimental data. Day two turned to patent examination hotspots, high-value patent cultivation, trade secrets, invalidation early warning, reverse-payment antitrust review, traditional Chinese medicine patents and AI-driven drug discovery. Five panel discussions ran alongside the keynote programme under the chairmanship of Cheng Yongshun.
